While 4 Directional is not technically a pattern but rather a sequence of common movements, this is the first pattern we learned, while at white belt. It showcases the foundational techniques of blocking and punching.

Basic sequence (right side)
- Junbi (ready stance)
- Right front stance, Right mid section punch
- Left turn (rotate left foot in same position, now facing to the left of the training hall), step right foot back into Left front stance, Left low block
- Step right foot forward (rotate left foot in same position, still facing to the left of the training hall), Right front stance, Right mid section punch
- Left turn (rotate left foot in same position, now facing to the back of the training hall), step right foot back into Left front stance, Left low block
- Step right foot forward (rotate left foot in same position, still facing to the back of the training hall), Right front stance, Right mid section punch
- Left turn (rotate left foot in same position, now facing to the right of the training hall), step right foot back into Left front stance, Left low block
- Step right foot forward (rotate left foot in same position, still facing to the right of the training hall), Right front stance, Right mid section punch with Kihap
- (wait for instructor) Left turn (rotate left foot in same position, now facing the front of the training hall again), move right foot into Junbi (ready stance)
