1 Step Sparring

Here is a list of the 1 Step Sparring actions and movements we learn in TaeKwonDo

  • Sequence
    • Attacker takes distance
    • Both move into ready stance
    • Repeat
      • Attacker steps right foot back, left low block, ki-hap to indicate ready to attack
      • Defender ki-hap to acknowledge ready to defend
      • Attacker steps forward, right hand piltrum-level punch
      • Defender performs one of the below movements
      • Attacker steps forward into ready stance
      • Defender steps back into ready stance
      • Attacker / Defender swap roles
  • Movements (14 individual 1-step basic movements)
    • Right arm out to in block, right knife hand strike
      • Right arm out to in block, right piltrum strike
      • Right arm out to in block, right temple strike
    • Knife hand block left hand forward, right horizontal spear hand strike
    • Step left, right round house kick. Step up, right knife hand srike
    • Step left, right turning kick. Step up, right knife hand strike
    • Step left, right side kick. Step up, right knife hand strike
    • Jumping front kick
    • Step right, left side kick. In same place (step straight down), right back kick
    • Left horse riding stance, left palm block, double punch (can be followed up with palm strike)
    • Left half moon kick (to clear the punching arm), right front kick
    • Left inner forearm block, hook opponents arm, spin elbow strike
    • Right crescent kick, jump spin crescent kick
