Self Defence

Here is a list of Self Defence techniques we learn in TaeKwonDo

  • Attacker’s right hand grabs defender’s left hand
    • Right palm strike to chin
    • Right knife hand strke to neck
    • Grab shoulder, pulling attacker forward
    • knee strike, push attacker away
    • guarding position
  • Attacker’s left hand grabs defender’s right hand
    • Left palm strike to chin
    • Left knife hand strke to neck
    • Grab shoulder, pulling attacker forward
    • knee strike, push attacker away
    • guarding position
  • Attacker’s right hand grabs defender’s left hand
    • Roll right hand up and around attackers wrist
    • Step to left into horse riding stance while using left hand to push attacker’s elbow to release their grip
    • Right foot low kick to side of attacker’s knee
    • Step down behind attacker’s foot (to allow advanced take down), right knife hand strike to neck
  • Attacker’s left hand grabs defender’s right hand
    • Roll left hand up and around attackers wrist
    • Step to right into horse riding stance while using right hand to push attacker’s elbow to release their grip
    • Left foot low kick to side of attacker’s knee
    • Step down behind attacker’s foot (to allow advanced take down), left knife hand strike to neck
  • Attacker grabs both defenders wrists
    • Raise left arm, low block (back of attackers hands hit each other, causing loss of grip)
    • Step forward with left leg
    • Right palmheel strike (or right elbow strike) to chin
  • Attacker tries to grab defenders throat in a choke hold
    • x block (start with palms facing towards defender, end with palms facing attacker)
    • grab shoulders, knee strike
    • push attacker away, guarding position
  • Attacker grabs defenders neck/shirt with both hands
    • slap palms over ears of attacker
    • step forward with left leg
    • right hand behind attacker’s head, roll head onto right shoulder
    • multiple right knee strikes
    • right elbow strike
    • push attacker away, guarding position
