Review: | My daughter first came across this ice cream when her friend made it. We were then treated to it on New Years eve and understood her obsession. Luckily our friend was happy to share the recipe with us. This one uses a large amount of fresh strawberries. We headed down to our local markets to pick some up for this recipe when they were on special. This calls for pushing the fresh berries through a strainer to break them down and remove the seeds. When we were making it our chef neighbour had popped round and suggested just blending them instead. Given how difficult it was to mash them through the strainer we switched to the blender and it was much easier. We weren’t too fussed about little bits of seeds. This also calls for fresh orange and lemon juice. We used bottled lemon juice and some leftover orange and passionfruit juice which worked just fine. We had to adjust the recipe to fit our 1.5L ice cream maker, but wow this is a real winner. |
